Sneek's rapcrew L-West Productions ( LWP ) was founded in 1986 under the name "BeatFreaks"
After their first selftitled demo at the end of 1987 the name of the group was changed into L-West Productions. After a few changes the L-West line-up
Base ( rap & lyrics )
Mc-Rox ( rap & pr )
Most ( rap & e-pr )
Romeo ( rap / beatbox / beats )
DJ Syah ( scratches / beats, all on a freelance base
For LWP originality is a high priority. The fact that this crew exists out of four mc's is used to the maximum (four voices in combinations unlimited). When it comes to making music their beats are "as original as Coca is Cola ".
The prove that they don't sit back and relax is expressed in the productions they've released in the last 10 years. Click Releases and Audio in the navigator for detailled information.
1991 "Last White Poets" ( independend released tape )
1992 "2 Dangerous to Play" ( independend released tape )
By bringing out these tapes the crew caught the attention of a recently started label that offerd them a recording-contract, making it possible for the crew to record their debutalbum which came out in:
1993 "The Result of a Neighbourhood Crew" ( Nico's Records )
After this album the crew appeared on several compilation albums such as :
"Blockbuster"
"Rap Live "95 "
"HJuster, Hjoed of Moarn"
1994/1995 The crew participated in the "Blockbuster Tour" starring: Sources of Specialment, Two out of Millions, Zombi Squad, Rowdy and More Serious.
1996 The second album on LP/CD appeared entitled "Releases That Make Mc's Pray For Help From Jesus". In that same year the "North-East Connection Tour" was started with: BCP, Rhytmatic, Sources of Specialment and Black Orpheus.
This tour with crews from the North and East of the Netherlands was presenting an underground hip-hop show.
1997 On the tripple-cdpack "Frisian Airplay װ" a new track is released. The track is called "The Way It Went On" and is the sequel to "The Way It Went" out of 1993 and tells you the story of LWP until the moment of recording. Under the mottto "Always surprising and expanding our horizon" the crew works on.
1998 New material and performed at the "Frozenland" festival and "Hip-Hop at it's best" part 3 with Family Jewels and Phat Pockets.
1999 Due to the fact that one of the LWP rappers has to work for half a year outside the Netherlands, the others wrote new tracks and made the beats to complete the heat.
2000 L-West Productions survived - as expected- the millenniumbug and released some oldskool BeatFreaks material, such as live performances, and special remixes of "classical tracks".
2001-Now We wrote a lot of new amazing L-West Stilo numbers and did track by track recording in the studio.
2002 Release of "People from Sneek", a remix of one of the tracks from the forthcoming album "16 years and counting".
Keep the shit original, keep it underground
